TITLE:           Bus Driver

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid license to drive a school bus
  2. Must pass an annual physical examination
  3. Demonstrated ability to perform tasks listed below

 

REPORTS TO:

Director of Transportation

 

JOB PURPOSE:

To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from district curriculum and extra-curriculum programs.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Obeys all traffic laws.
  2. Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
  3. Maintains discipline when students are on bus.
  4. Reports undisciplined students to proper authorities.
  5. Keeps assigned bus clean.
  6. Reports acts of vandalism to bus on the day of occurrence to the Director of Transportation.  All efforts should be made to ascertain the guilty party.
  7. Keeps to assigned schedule.
  8. Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
  9. Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects.
  10. Discharges students only at authorized stops.
  11. Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of district school trips.
  12. Transports only authorized students.
  13. Reports all accidents and completes required reports on time.
  14. Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on bus.
  15. Knows, abides by , and enforces school system policies.
  16. Attends scheduled In-Service meetings.
  17. Must adhere to established school bus routes.
  18. Familiar with all safety regulations and principals of first aid.
  19. Any driver found guilty of having intoxicating drinks on his/her breath while on duty will be automatically discharged.
  20. Such other tasks as may be assigned from time to time.

 

TERMS of EMPLOYMENTSalary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved salary formula.  Starting rate is $21.00/hour with additional pay for experience.
